As we mentioned before, we are starting something new. We asked our friends at Racemarket.net and Rally cars for sale / rent Facebook pages to ask a question to Finnish rally driver Kristian Sohlberg.
We've gathered many interesting questions and selected 5 of them, sent them to Kristian and he was kind enough to answer them all (thank you Kristian!). So here there are:
- Which of the WRC rallies you've driven was the hardest and why? Must be Cyprus 2004. IT was over 35 outside and the stages avg speed was only just over 60km/h… I still remember loosing over 6kg during the rally… It was just so hot it was incredible. We luckily had a shower in service, so could have a cold shower and chance new underwear and overall.
- What is your favourite rally car ever?
It must be Subaru WRC S10.. It was best WRC subaru ever made. There have been many very good cars but it must be the best… - After all these years, do you still get nervous before rally and how do you manage to cope with that?
Of course I get nervous, thats normal and need to be, as if not you are not mentally ready for the rally or event. I listen to music and try to be alone. Im not very good company before rallies start as brain is already preparing to the rally and mentally also getting ready, I’m quite silent then.. :) - Why rallycross?
I have wanted to try rallycross for few years already, and now finally managed to make a deal with Andy Scott and Albatec Racing. I think the sport is great, many cars head on, short but hot heats and spectators can get very close to the action. I have now done two events and hopefully will manage to make a deal for next year and really have fun in rallycross. - How does one even get to WRC, do teams have »scouts« like in football or does it all depend just on financial backing from sponsors?
Normally no scouts, but of course if a driver is fast it get noticed by managers like we Timo Jouhki. It's great to have people who want to support young drivers in getting to the top and have a chance to show their skills. I still think works teams should have one car for and talented drivers.. Without having to pay massive amount.. But for this we need even more manufacturers and more importantly we need much more out of WRC!!!
